About our organization

Already in 1981 a sufferer (Dawn James) in Great Britain has founded the Pre-Eclampsia Society and has handed out information leaflets and regular newsletters.

In 1983 I suffered from this disease myself, my first son was born five weeks premature and relatively fit. However, I was seriously ill with what is called HELLP-syndrom nowadays - a failure in liver function leading to an extreme dangerous situation because of failing blood coagulation. It often shows extremely painful upper abdominal pain, often mistaken as kicks from the baby.

Anyway, in 1984 I contacted Dawn James and shortly afterwards we founded the German group with a couple of other sufferers. Ever since we have offered information booklets, diet sheets, regular newsletters in German, an open ear, regular regional meetings and an annual countrywide meeting. As we serve more than 1200 first time clients every year and send out numerous packages on regular basis we cannot offer our services for free. We charge of course for the booklets, for the time needed to deal with your order and for postage fees. At the moment we charge 19,80 EUR in European countries. However, if you live in other continents, we might have to charge a bit more due to higher postage fees. Please enquire if you want to know the exact amount prior to ordering, maybe we have to convert it into a currency available to you.
